Hi, I’m Kent.

My connection to scent grew naturally from my childhood, moving between the coastal city of Da Nang and the historic streets of Hoi An. I spent my early years learning the everyday rhythms of gardening and cooking with my grandparents. It was in those quiet moments that I first began to explore the captivating scents around me, the brightness of fresh herbs and ripening fruits, and the delicate elegance of flowers like the rose de Mai.

Hoi An offered its own rich sensory landscape. Visiting the local craft villages, I learned about traditional crafts, absorbing the earthy scent of wet clay from pottery making and the soft, natural aroma of powdered woods used to craft incense. As a child, I wasn't looking for a deeper meaning; I was simply taking it all in. Yet, these vivid, tactile experiences quietly became the foundation of my creative inspiration, teaching me that behind every scent lies a story and a piece of culture.

Today, as a Chemical Engineering student at the University of Arizona, I channel that early inspiration into my work at Hinataya House. My perfumes are not simply recreations of my past, but new expressions sparked by those foundational memories. My approach is a balance of two worlds: I use the precision of engineering to build the skeleton of a fragrance, creating a perfect canvas for the arts to provide the color, soul, and storytelling of each unique creation.

Engineering

Arts

Where engineering provides the structure, the arts provide the soul and color. This is the creative layer where my inspirations, from my heritage to the natural world, take shape. I use the arts to breathe life into the technical, transforming a precise molecular formula into an evocative story that resonates with the wearer’s own emotions and memories.

My process is rooted in the precision of chemical engineering. This background provides the structural blueprint for every scent, ensuring that each formula is balanced, stable, and meticulously crafted from the molecular level up. It is the invisible architecture that allows the fragrance to bloom.
